Beginning in the late 1960s, an interest in historic preservation and conservation arose among some members of the Boalsburg community. This lead to the establishment of the Boalsburg Village Conservancy in 1973. In 1977, Boalsburg’s historic district, encompassing 140 buildings was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. We invite you to stroll the village of Boalsburg to learn more about some of those listed properties.

Identifying historic sites in Harris Township with House marks came from the use of Fire-marks by fire companies many years ago to identify a house they would protect. Nelson Wood, a craftsman in the art of wood carving, designed and carved a pine mold of the logo. This mold was the matrix for sand casting aluminum House marks which are used for this purpose.
